GPE Explained by HRSA:

 

The Health Resources and Services Administration funds the GPE program which “trains doctoral health psychology students, interns, and post-doctoral residents to provide integrated, interdisciplinary, behavioral health and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and other Substance Use Disorder (SUD) prevention and treatment services in high need and high demand areas.  The program also supports faculty development of health service psychology.”

The GPE program provides a stipend ($25,000) to support students in their primary care practicum sites and gives monetary support to the sites to cover the cost of the students' supervision.
